Best Job Search Websites in 2019 to Get Your Next Position!

Job search websites in 2019 is heating up — so dust off your resume and get hunting!

As much as I dislike the endless clicking when it comes to applying for jobs online, job search sites are still a critical part of the job search process. Since you have limited time I’ll break down my list of job search sites in order of priority.

Indeed

Indeed is definitely the biggest kid of the block for job listings. It’s a job search meta engine, which means it pulls in jobs from all over the internet. They took over the market over the past ten years or so because of having better technology than the aging sites from the dotcom era. This is definitely my first go-to, general, all-purpose job search site to begin finding jobs.

From Indeed:

Indeed is the #1 job site worldwide*, with over 200 million unique visitors per month. Indeed is available in more than 60 countries and 28 languages, covering 94% of global GDP.

Since 2004, Indeed has given job seekers free access to millions of jobs from thousands of company websites and job boards. As the leading pay-for-performance recruitment advertising network, Indeed drives millions of targeted applicants to jobs in every field and is the most cost-effective source of candidates for thousands of companies.

ZipRecruiter

ZipRecruiter is a scrappy second contender that helps speed up the job application process. The do a lot of integration with LinkedIn, so if you have a really great and complete LinkedIn profile you can do ultra-fast online applications with your LinkedIn profile instead of copy and pasting for 20-40 minutes. You’ll see a lot of overlap between Indeed and ZipRecruiter but the speed of applying is well worth using it.

From ZipRecruiter:

ZipRecruiter started as a tool to help small businesses distribute job postings affordably. Today we’re a thriving marketplace where millions of people across the U.S. and U.K. find a better job for a better life.

In the past two years, LinkedIn has made a great effort to beef up it’s job listing section. You’ll now find a ton of jobs listed and even better is you can quickly apply with your LinkedIn profile — so if you haven’t gotten a LinkedIn makeover yet, now is the time to do so.

From LinkedIn:

Google Jobs

Did you know Google has an amazing and semi-secret job listing section? The main way to access it is to do a Google search for a job, such as: PROJECT MANAGER JOBS IN CHICAGO. The first results you get bring you to the job search section of Google that pulls in jobs from site even I’ve never heard of!

You can also go here and customize your search: https://www.google.com/search?q=jobs+near+me

Google Jobs is a little off the radar but is going up the ranks with a bullet. Plus it’s Google, so you know eventually they’ll probably control half the market.

Monster

Monster is a throw back of the dotcom era. It was one of the few companies that made it out alive and thrived through the beginning of the 2000’s. Unfortunately, it grew stale and tired and didn’t keep up with the latest tech. and has been overshadowed by others. Recently Monster.com announced a major transition in their business. They gave the old and tired execs the boot and are aggressively updating their tech and user experience to bring them back to dominance. I wish them the best and look forward to see what they have to offer job hunters.

From Monster.com:

Monster is a global online employment solution for people seeking jobs and the employers who need great people. We’ve been doing this for more than 20 years, and have expanded from our roots as a “job board” to a global provider of a full array of job seeking, career management, recruitment and talent management products and services.

FlexJobs

With more and more people and companies turning toward remote work FlexJobs fills a unique place. It’s a pay-to-play sites but it filters remote and flexible types of jobs better than the other big sites. Plus I’ve frequently seen jobs listed here that I’m not seeing on the big sites. If you are looking for 100% remote positions, FlexJobs is definitely worth the money.

From FlexJobs:

FlexJobs knows that there’s a ton of junk out there for job seekers. Whether it’s the too-good-to-be-true business opportunities, endless ads, broken links, repetitive postings, or just straight-out scams… well, yes, there’s a lot of junk out there. And it’s often burying the actual good job opportunities.

FlexJobs can change that. We can make your job search experience better, easier, faster, and safer.

Career Builder

What to say about Career Builder? They are another dotcom company that hasn’t kept up with the world around them. In the early 2000’s the two sites you HAD to be on was Monster and Career Builder. These days, if you have a lot of extra time, sure why now use CB. To be honest though, I’d rather use some of the sites above and spend that extra time scheduling networking meetings.

From Career Builder:

Glassdoor

Glassdoor has been progressively getting better and better with a unique approach to job search. The company review and salary submit system can give you unique insight into your job search. If users have submitted reviews or salaries for your title at a company you’re interested in, this site will help you make better decisions and better answer that terrible interview question, “what are your salary expectations?”

From Glassdoor.com:

Glassdoor holds a growing database of millions of company reviews, CEO approval ratings, salary reports, interview reviews and questions, benefits reviews, office photos and more. Unlike other jobs sites, all of this information is entirely shared by those who know a company best — the employees. Add to that millions of the latest jobs — no other site allows you to see which employers are hiring, what it’s really like to work or interview there according to employees, and how much you could earn.
